Prerna is a non profit organization established by Sumit Agarwal ( Director ) s/o Murari Lal Agarwal (M.D.), MLA Group of Industries, an IIT Kanpur graduate of the year 1998. Vision/Objective Prerna aims to work towards development of a strong, prosperous and happy India. Nationalism is the core feeling which drives our efforts. The word ” Prerna” meaning inspiration, symbolizes our motto to ” set an example” how involvement of the well to do segment of the country’s population in social development can bring about a rapid change. Prerna is run by the funding and management efforts of MLA Group of Industries, Kanpur, India. If we can inspire other industrialists and well off indivisuals to take up such work in their cities and the ball sets rolling and this becomes a countrywide phenomenon our aim will be achieved. A strong team of 25 crore Indians will come in place with the common objective to uplift India This could one day become a worldwide movement too, to care for others, to have compassion for the ones who need our help. We are sure there are more prosperous and comfortable human beings in the world than the ones in distress. So if each one of us feels it is his responsibility to take care of one more family , other than his own, all sorrows and miseries will be wiped out. The Dream We visualize reconstruction of an India where people are strongly patriotic ( in actions too ), concerned about systems and surroundings, their self respect as well as others. Everyone must feel truly proud to be an Indian. We will win scores of gold medals in Olympics. Our country will be as clean and beautiful as Singapore. Our policemen will also stop beside you on the roadside when you are struggling with your scooter and ask ” Can I help you Sir”. Our poor people will not die of hunger or lack of proper treatment in government hospitals. There will be no beggars, our old aged will be well taken care of. There will be happiness and prosperity and ” greed” the underlying cause of all evil, corruption and crime will no longer harm our people. And all this we cannot do alone, crores of people will join hands once they see that it is possible , small efforts can bring big cumulative changes. That is the example we want to set .
Modus Operandi It is most important that this work has to be done with responsibility, the same that one feels towards one’s business. One has to do it with passion, professionally. The social work has to be well managed , so that help reaches where it is needed most, so that the lowest and poorest sections of our masses get the benefit first and basic needs are fulfilled. We emphasize on activities which will provide long term benefit. No one can provide food, clothing and shelter on a permanent basis to poor people, but can work to eliminate the root causes. Business community will provide excellent results in social work once the underlying ” responsible passion” is there and it this wock is managed with the same relentless effort, shrewdness and efficiency that one desires to see in his profit earning business. As a first step towards our goal, we have taken up one of the root causes of poverty, that is lack of education. We have started 16 primary schools in slum areas. We recruit teachers from these areas who can bring together 40-80 children who are not going to any school, and conduct classes for 2 hours. We provide blackboard, note books, pencils etc and pay the teachers salary. Our team of young managers at MLA Group have been given the additional charge of looking for new locations, conducting routine inspections and managing the schools.
